Liquor truck flip leaves four injured


There was a beehive of activity on the N2 freeway southbound in the vicinity of Park Rynie, when a truck laden with liquor overturned causing looters to scramble for free alcohol last week.

Scottburgh SAPS communications officer, Captain Adam Francis, said, “Constables Lindani Mtolo and Ndabeni Msomi of SAPS Scottburgh attended to an accident on the N2 freeway, southbound in Park Rynie.

It is alleged that a truck with a trailer, laden with an assortment of alcohol, overturned when the driver tried to avoid knocking a pedestrian, who was crossing the freeway.

“The 48-year old truck driver, two passengers and a pedestrian were treated by paramedics at the scene and subsequently conveyed to GJ Crookes Hospital. Warrant Officer Vis Moodley of Scottburgh SAPS is investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving.
