Quick communication between the community, police and emergency services resulted in a newborn baby and mom being swiftly rescued and assisted at a location in Gamalakhe, along the South Coast, last week.
According to KZN Private Ambulance, they were called to Gamalakhe to assist with an alleged abandoned baby case.
“Thankfully, when paramedics arrived they found that the baby was not abandoned, but the mother had delivered the baby in an abandoned house where she was in distress.
“Community members found her and phoned Gamalake SAPS who then called emergency medical services.
“Paramedics managed to stabilise the baby on scene. The baby and mother were transported to the local hospital for further treatment.
“The quick actions of the community and the Gamalake SAPS saved the life of this newborn baby,” KZNPA said.
